iTwin is developing a flexible web platform for gathering and analyzing twin data entirely online. We aim to provide solutions for social scientists interested in applying twin study methods to address their own research questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What measures are you collecting?

We are currently set up to administer self-report multi-item scored scales and single-item questions (displayed randomly). We plan to expand to additional study formats in the future. If you have a study format that you would like us to include, please email us to discuss the possibilities.

Our current list of multi-item scored scales is viewable here.

Will you include my measure?

Sure! You can suggest multi-item surveys and single-item questions for inclusion in the project.

How can I access the data?

Because of the dyadic (twin) nature of the data, we will not be making raw data publicly available.

We are building a web app to allow basic analyses (such as aggregate descriptive statistics and heritability estimates) without accessing raw data.

Please email us to arrange a collaboration to conduct more complex or custom analyses. All research collaborations will require:

  • pre-registration of analysis plans,
  • local Institutional Review Board approval, and
  • completion of a Data Access Agreement.
